As one of Mississippi’s largest school districts, Lauderdale County School District (LCSD) oversees 6,000+ students and manages over 1,000,000 square feet of facilities. In 2019, the district entered into a $10 million contract with Entegrity to pursue a project with 17 different improvement measures, which varied by facility. These upgrades have guaranteed annual savings of $571,080, and guaranteed lifetime savings of $14,079,010.
Work was broken down into three phases.
PHASE 1
- LED lighting upgrades for 11,000 fixtures
- A 223.7 kW solar array with 688 modules on 1.6 acres with a 25-year warranty
- Upgrading phones across the district to Voice over IP (VoIP)
- Water conservation improvements to 1,058 fixtures
- Addition of a well to minimize costs for field irrigation
- Replacing HVAC units beyond their useful life
- Upgrading HVAC in classrooms to replace window units
- Integrating building controls system throughout the district
HVAC tune-ups for existing systems - Installing acoustical ceilings, including smoke barriers in corridors throughout the district
- Replacing existing single-pane windows at select facilities
- Replacing outdated water heaters
- Providing learning opportunities for student education
- Life safety upgrades
- Installing 3,489 feet of new fencing and 500 security cameras
- Upgrading to access control at 99 district locations and putting in eight automated gates
- Building a new campus entry, including a new office area for parent check-in and parking lot addition
PHASE 2
- HVAC additions for all six of LCSD’s gymnasiums and ancillary spaces.
PHASE 3
- Installation of new window systems at six district facilities
- new door systems at Northeast Lauderdale Elementary
FUTURE WORK
LCSD is currently evaluating a solar power purchase agreement to generate solar savings as part of the new state-regulated process known as Mississippi’s Solar for Schools Program. Entegrity is also aiding in the design and implementation of the new Career and Technology Education Center that will offer a solar installation training facility. We are also investigating the potential for the Career and Technology Education Center to become the first Net Zero Certified Building in the State of Mississippi.
