OMD Chandler Joint Operations Center Achieves LEED Gold

The Oklahoma Military Department’s (OMD) Chandler Joint Operations Center (JOC) demonstrates how thoughtful design, collaboration, and performance-driven decision-making can elevate a project beyond its original goals.

Originally targeting LEED v4 BD+C: Silver certification, the project ultimately achieved LEED Gold, reflecting a higher level of performance in energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and overall sustainability.

Designed to support critical operations for the Oklahoma Military Department, the Chandler JOC required a careful balance of durability, functionality, and long-term efficiency. Through a collaborative design and delivery process, the project team identified opportunities to enhance building performance while maintaining the reliability required of a mission-critical facility.

Performance-Driven Design

Entegrity supported the project with a range of sustainability and performance-focused services, helping guide decisions from early design through project completion. These included:

  • LEED Consulting & Certification Management
Coordinating documentation and strategies to meet LEED v4 BD+C requirements and exceed the original certification target.
  • Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)
Evaluating long-term financial impacts of design decisions to support cost-effective investments over the building’s lifespan.
  • Energy Modeling & Daylighting Analysis
Informing design strategies to optimize energy performance while enhancing occupant comfort and access to natural light.
  • Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Testing
Verifying that the building meets high standards for occupant health and indoor environmental quality prior to occupancy.

Elevating Outcomes Through Collaboration

Achieving LEED Gold required more than meeting baseline requirements—it meant navigating complex project challenges while maintaining a focus on performance.

The project team worked closely with the Oklahoma Military Department’s IT representatives to coordinate the integration of advanced data communication systems, ensuring the facility could support critical operations without compromising efficiency goals. At the same time, limitations in the City of Chandler’s water supply required design adjustments and additional system considerations to maintain reliable building performance.

Throughout these challenges, Entegrity supported the team with energy modeling, daylighting analysis, and life cycle cost evaluations—helping identify opportunities to improve efficiency and indoor environmental quality. By validating performance through modeling and testing, the team was able to move beyond the original LEED Silver target and deliver a higher-performing facility.

A Higher Standard for Mission-Critical Facilities

The Chandler Joint Operations Center reflects a growing standard for mission-critical facilities—where performance, resilience, and occupant well-being are considered alongside operational needs from the outset.

By integrating sustainability strategies early and validating outcomes throughout the project, the team delivered a facility that not only meets the demands of today but is positioned to perform efficiently for years to come.
